POSITION SUMMARY:  


Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Creative Director directs creative work for the University’s brand marketing needs including demand generation and demand capture. Oversee the work of artists, copywriters, graphic designers, photographers and other members of a creative team.  Responsible for establishing creative direction for the entire line of college and university marketing offerings, including the brand standards across media and channels as well as original graphics and other multimedia assets.  The Creative Director will attend planning meetings and make presentations to staff and clients to decide the strategic and creative direction of a project. . They will also use their creative expertise to interpret the client's vision and make it a tangible and deliverable product.   Develops creative briefs and design concepts to meet the business objectives of the organization and individual marketing brands for both the college and the university.  They will plan and implement budgets to ensure both quality and efficiency, and establish schedules on short-term and long-term projects.

 

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Thorough understanding of art, copy, and layout, communications, presentation, and project management skills, and how to use design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, In-Design, and Photoshop.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Performs a variety of creative tasks in addition to managing creative production.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Web Design, Communications, Business or related field

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Five to seven years of experience in creative marketing, public relations, or related functions.
  • Experience in higher education is valuable, but not required.
  • Ability to develop content that displays effective multi-media story telling techniques.
  • Experience managing fast-paced projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong computer aptitude on both Mac and PC platforms. Demonstrated mastery of Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Understanding of public relations and internal and external communications.
  • Basic knowledge of websites, content management systems (especially Mac IOS, Microsoft Office, social media, photography and videography).

  • Highly familiar with digital channel programs and strategies, inclusive of new and emerging technologies that support content/message delivery and measurement.

  • Familiarity working with web design teams, creative teams, SEO teams, PPC teams, IT teams
  • High level of analytical and technological skills.
  • Ability to formulate advanced concepts and solutions that demand a high degree of, creativity, innovation, technological expertise, and ingenuity.

SUMMARY:

They will plan and implement budgets to ensure both quality and efficiency and help establish schedules on short-term and long-term projects.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in a creative field – design, art, copywriting, or similarly related field 


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years related experience in a similar design related position involving internet marketing, strategic web design and development, conceptual design and market research.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory or managerial experience. 
  • Experience with highly regulated industries preferred, but is not required.
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic web and user interface design, customer acquisition tactics and marketing.
  • Thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes and user interface design as well as industry best practices.                                            
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 5 & Photoshop Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript.
  • Photography / video shooting and editing skills a plus.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Campaigns have timelines - able to make timely decisions regarding copy, final art, finished commercials, radio, web, print, display, etc.
  • Familiarity working with web design teams, creative teams, SEO teams, PPC teams, IT teams
  • High degree of management experience demonstrating the ability to keep many creative teams on schedule and manage their own time.
  • High level of analytical and technological skills to analyze competitive trends, look at new data, and provide recommendations.
