West Coast University is a private university with the singular focus of educating health care professionals. We are currently seeking an Employee Relations Specialist for our Administration Office in Irvine, California. This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional  to join a growing university as we expand our academic programs in health care and related fields.


The Employee Relations Specialist performs a variety of work related employee-employer relation services in a multi-faceted, multi-location academic setting. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Investigating employee relations issues, documenting findings, making recommendations, and providing report to VP of Human Resources
  • Meeting with associates to hear concerns, answering questions to promote/educate them on organizational policies and procedures and fair treatment procedure
  • Encouraging problem resolution through the chain of command.
  • Mediating differences between associates and supervisors.    
  • Advising supervisors/managers of various state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Serving as a resource for associates, management, and administration on issues where the company‚Äôs interests may be at risk.  
  • Coordinating with managers to assure adherence to policies and procedures for initiating disciplinary processes
  • Escalating employee relations issues to in-house Legal Counsel when needed.
  • Collaborating with managers to address employee relations issues related to performance or conduct utilizing performance improvement coaching and documentation processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field required, Master's degree preferred. 
  • Professional in Human Resource (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resource (SPHR) Certification preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in high volume complex Employee Relations required
  • 5+ years experience as a Human Resources Generalist with an emphasis on employee relations, employee counseling, and conflict resolution, preferably in a multi-state academic setting.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources including internal investigations.
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal laws related to Human Resources functions, plus separation, employee relations and investigative procedures.
